Restoring Reliability. Making the Right Commercial Decision.
Technical remediation followed by a commercially sound exit.
A relatively new pool was suffering serious operational problems despite its modern appearance. Wagtail coordinated remedial works and helped reassess the expansion opportunity.
A new facility with major operating problems
The plant room and air-handling systems were inadequately sized for the facility, contributing to poor environmental control, repeated closures and unreliable operation.
Mighty Splash was considering taking over the pool as a new swim school location, but the technical and commercial fundamentals both needed scrutiny.
Resolve the technical issues
Wagtail reviewed the installation and coordinated specialist contractors to carry out repairs and renewals, improving the reliability of the pool.
Knowing when not to proceed
Although the technical works were completed, the commercial proposition no longer made sufficient sense for Mighty Splash, particularly given the challenges of staffing a more distant operation.
The decision was made to concentrate on the established Bath and Bristol area. Mighty Splash exited amicably, leaving the landlord with an improved facility available for other swim schools to hire.

What this project demonstrates
Technical success and commercial success are not the same thing. Wagtail helped resolve the pool’s operating problems while supporting a decision not to pursue an expansion that no longer aligned with Mighty Splash’s business.
